This 1979 Ferrari 308 GT4 (chassis 15220) is described as an all original example that’s recently been sorted after spending the former 12 years in storage. Mileage is quoted as just 14k and change, and the seller claims to have extensive supporting documentation as well. A full belt service was performed under 2k miles ago, and condition looks remarkably good throughout–this color might not appeal to everyone, but the car is probably one of the cleaner unrestored examples left. Said to be all original, the car is fitted with a rare sliding steel sunroof, and this deep, coppery brown is called Marrone. Black lower “Boxer” panels are named for the 512BB that inspired them, and Ferrari badging is correct–Maranello dropped the Dino sub-brand midway through ’76. One of the few breaks in Ferrari’s long-standing relationship with Pininfarina, these cars were styled by Gandini working under Bertone.
The interior looks fantastic and is easily the best preserved, unrestored example we’ve yet seen. The small rear seats look just as good, and the top of the steering column features a cool factory-fit plaque featuring the car’s model and serial numbers.
The engine bay is particularly impressive, even for a low mileage example. If truly completely original, condition is even more remarkable than it first seems, with unmarked crinkle finish on the air filter and snorkel device and pristine cam covers. The seller notes a full engine and belt service performed at 12,400 miles, as well as other, unspecified sorting.
Says the seller: “Period correct XWX Michelins have been put on and all books, tool kit and pouch, jack and pouch, light and two keys are provided. An extensive service book along with substantial information on GT4’s is also provided.”
