7/12/2017 Update: A bit more than two years later and this 1982 Lancia Zagato Spider is back on offer, and though last time around it already seemed likely to be one of the best out there, it’s now been fitted with slim Euro-spec bumpers that really make a world of difference. The car now sports correct trunk lid badging as well, and the only thing we’d want to change is the generic, overly large aftermarket exhaust finisher. Find it here on eBay in Hopkinton, Massachusetts with no reserve. Special thanks to BaT reader Thurston M. for this submission. From 4/30/2015: This 1982 Lancia Zagato Spider (VIN ZLAFS00C5B0202686) is the best we’ve seen in years by a mile, the seller noting that it’s mechanically healthy, electrically sorted, rust and accident-free and largely original. Even the A/C blows cold. Though interesting with a nice drivetrain and a Zagato badge, we don’t usually get too excited about these cars, but this one’s cleanliness and excellent presentation has us viewing it with fresh and more appreciative eyes. Find it here on eBay in Seattle, Washington with no reserve and more than 100 bids! Straight and solid sheet metal has had one respray, though the seller says it remains in excellent, nearly show-ready condition. A complete set of lightweight stainless steel Euro bumpers with lights are available separately, and we’d negotiate hard for their inclusion. The seller adds that all weatherstripping and plastic is in good condition, and that the canvas rear section of the two-piece Targa top is new. The SuperTrapp exhaust doesn’t look great but offers adjustable sound suppression. Inside, the interior looks just as nice as the rest of the car and features a good-looking, aftermarket Momo wheel with Lancia horn button as well as an Alpine head unit concealed behind the factory blanking plate. Claimed original and never opened up, the Lampredi twin cam isn’t much to look at in this configuration but remains one of our favorite old-school twin cam four cylinders. Revvy, smooth and even pretty torquey in this two liter form, a recent cold compression test is said to have revealed 165 PSI across all cylinders. This photo shows it with the above-mentioned and optionally available (but nearly mandatory) Euro bumpers. With nearly three days remaining and bidding hovering at just under $4k at the time of writing, we’re interested to see what this benchmark example ends up changing hands for.
