This 1968 Fiat 500 was imported to the US in 2012 by Madness Auto Works in Signal Hill, California and acquired by the seller three years ago. The car was reportedly refurbished in Italy prior to importation with work including the installation of a 650cc two-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual gearbox with synchromesh, new paint, a sport exhaust system, and a custom interior. Servicing conducted by the importer in 2015 included replacing the plug wires, assorted hoses and gaskets, as well as servicing the suspension and electrical systems. The car was reportedly displayed at the 2013 Los Angeles Motor Show and is now being offered with a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name. According to the seller, the body was repainted during the 2011 refresh and the suspension system was inspected in 2015. Steel wheels wear chrome center caps and whitewall tires. The foldable roof is shown above and is pictured closed in the photo gallery below. The interior features red/white two-tone seats, dash, rear deck, and door panels. A pair of diamond-stitched floor mats with contrasting white trim are fitted, along with a custom trunk cover. The odometer currently shows 19k kilometers (~11k miles), about 500 of which have been added by the seller during his three years with the car. Out back, the 650cc engine was serviced in 2015 by Madness Auto Works in Signal Hill CA and included replacing the plug wires, checking the electrical system, and replacing assorted hoses and gaskets. Power is directed through a 4-speed manual gearbox with synchromesh that was reportedly replaced during the refresh, though no receipts are included. A handful of underbody photos are viewable in the gallery below.
