This 1967 Fiat 850 Spider was converted to a race car in 1991 and has since been campaigned in SVRA events with four previous owners. Power comes from an 847cc inline-four that was built with a PBS cylinder head, forged pistons, Abarth sump, twin Weber DCOE carburetors, and more outlined below. The car last raced in the 2015 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix with the selling dealer, who has owned it for seven years. This 850 racer is offered with an SVRA logbook and a Virginia bill of sale. Aluminum panels comprise a body that has been stripped of its factory windscreen, bumpers, lighting, and other trim. Red paint wears several track event scars. A small plastic windscreen and a trio of aftermarket mirrors have been added. Visible chassis reinforcements include a welded-in front fender brace, roll cage, and door bars. Additional safety items include a battery cut-off switch, onboard fire suppression system, and Fuelsafe cell housed in the front compartment. The stripped-down interior comes equipped with a single MOMO race seat with G-Force harness, a MOMO wheel, and AutoMeter gauges for engine speed, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The 847cc inline-four was built in the early 2000s by Apex Vintage (formerly Krause & England) in North Carolina with an aluminum PBS cylinder head and intake manifold, forged pistons, and Abarth sump. Fuel is delivered through a pair of 40mm Weber DCOE side-draft carburetors, and exhaust exits through 4-2-1 headers. A larger aluminum radiator has been installed and additional air is routed through a custom duct mounted in the rear of the cabin. An electric fan and remote oil filter are also visible. The seller notes that the engine will likely be due for an overhaul in relatively short order. Several lift photos are provided in the gallery below. The car raced at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix in 2015 and ran during practice sessions at Dominion Raceway the following year according to the included SVRA logbook, which includes “good to race” and “OK” entries from those events.
