This 1972 Fiat 500L belonged to the longterm owner of Ristorante Umbria in San Francisco, California, and was acquired by the seller in late 2018. Finished in orange over a black interior, the car bears advertisements for the restaurant of its former owner on both doors. It is powered by a 499cc twin mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, and features chrome bumpers, a large fabric sunroof, and chrome hubcaps. This 500L is offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
This example is finished in orange, which the seller notes may have been repainted in the past. Both doors wear advertisements for the previous owner’s restaurant. Cosmetics include chrome side-view mirrors, bumpers, push bars, and hubcaps. A center stop light has been added on the inside of the the rear window.
Stamped steel wheels are wrapped in older Michelin rubber at each corner.
Black leatherette seats are complemented by matching carpets and door panels. The underside of the flip-back soft top is shown in the gallery below. The dash is equipped with an ashtray, lighter, and a storage cubby. Speaker covers can be seen on the lower front corners of the door cards.
A factory 2-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal 130-km/h speedometer. 44k kilometers (~27k miles) are shown on the five-place odometer, with just a few miles added since the seller’s purchase. True mileage is unknown.
Power comes from a rear-mounted 499cc twin paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the clutch pedal feel is soft, the shifter has play, and the engine occasionally shuts off when idling.
A few more underside images are provided in the gallery.
