This 1947 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS is described as unrestored and in original condition, although it wears a body reportedly from the 1950s. The seller indicates it was found and bought in Argentina, where it had been raced in the early days. Find it here on eBay in Surrey, England with bidding over $212k and the reserve unmet. Special thanks to BaT reader Lionel V. for this submission!

Though the listing says the body was fitted in the 1950s, a discussion on the Alfabb forums notes that it may actually be from 1980s, a period when the car was known as the “Gomez Special.” That discussion also notes that the car originally had a Pininfarina cabriolet body. In any case, the body appears to be an interesting mix of 8C Monza and RLSS-TF elements and to be in clean condition.

From what we can see of the interior, it looks to be gently worn in all the places one would expect, with discolorations on the steering wheel in several spots. The wood panel dash looks intact, although the gauges appear to be non-original.

The engine (number 923.673) was pulled from the car for a rebuild after showing signs of wear, and that job is said to be nearly completed. The sale will include the rebuilt engine ready to be fitted into the car, which is described as a great driver.  Ancillaries will be included but likely will need attention. The  gearbox reportedly was inspected and found to be in good condition.

The story behind this Alfa should prove interesting and we’d love to know more about its history.
