This 1990 Ferrari Testarossa (VIN ZFFSG17A8L0083658) wears one of the best factory color combinations and looks great sitting on later, larger 512TR wheels. Though nearly 48k miles is low by the standards of most 25 year old cars, it’s actually on the high side for a Testarossa, and regular exercise in combination with a comprehensive list of preformed work suggests that this example could be about as trouble-free as the maintenance-intesive model comes. Find it here on eBay in Columbus, Ohio with no reserve and fast bidding.
The market for these cars has been blowing up recently, and this one’s final hammer price will likely be kept lower than normal by a previous accident in which the left rear quarter was sideswiped by a truck. Damage is said to have been limited to cosmetics with no underlying structure damage, and the seller details a near $30k repair including full replacement of the panel in question. Work appears to have been done very well, as photos show a clean, straight car with evenly matched paint on all panels. As mentioned above, we really like the later 18” 512TR wheels (up two inches from standard) and think they look great with the earlier, more angular Testarossa front fascia.
The red cabin contrasts beautifully with the silver exterior and appears to remain in excellent condition. The distinctly shaped seats and excellent, decidedly non-supercar like visibility of these cars are a few of our favorite features, and as shown in additional listing photos, the car’s full, original Schedoni luggage set with matching slip covers is included. Modern F-cars are cool, but we’ll always prefer ours with a three-spoke Momo wheel and an open-gate shifter.
Full service records are included, and the seller breaks down their contents in a chronological list. A few highlights include an engine-out service in November of 2002, upgraded 512M driveshafts in February of 2007, another engine-out service in March of 2010 and a new clutch about 10 months later. Mileages aren’t mentioned, but item 34 on the list shows that bodywork was performed 24 months ago. A speedometer cluster replacement is also mentioned, but mileage should be verifiable with paperwork.
Maranello’s flat twelves are some of their best-sounding motors, and this one should really scream through a Tubi exhaust fitted in late 2001. Check out this video footage of a similarly-equipped car.
Sale includes all factory books, tools and a really cool auto show brochure and notebook. Though it looks like we missed the cheap Testarossa boat, it’s still nice to see realistically minded sellers do still exist in this heated market. If you’ve been after a good one, this one definitely seems to warrant a closer look.
