This 1959 Abarth 750 Record Monza Zagato (chassis 706188) has been restored back to near-stock in the past four years. Prior to refurbishment, the car was raced by the seller for 24 years with much success, its best lap being a 1:14 at Lime Rock. Logbooks aren’t mentioned but quite a few spares and extras are included. Find it here on eBay in Little Compton, Rhode Island with a $150k BIN.
Aluminum bodywork sounds to have been professionally prepped for paint and the car’s finish is very good. Trim has been re-chromed were necessary and the aluminum bumpers have been polished, as have the undersides of the hood and engine lid. The seller adds that gaps are excellent and the glass is original. It’s interesting how from the front 3/4 view the car resembles what looks like an Italian styled 356.
Along with the headliner, blue door cards and interior panels sound to be originals that were previously removed for race use, while seats have been recovered using stock patterns. Pile carpet and floor mats are also new as are the floor pans underneath. The luggage shelf was replaced but the wheel and all dash accessories are said to be original.
Although the car’s correct 750cc four has been rebuilt and is included, an 903cc Fiat 850 unit is currently installed and the transmission is the stock “D-style” 4-speed manual with a new clutch. Full work is listed in the ad, but highlights include a competition cam and ported/polished head, while the Weber 32mm carb and air cleaner fitted are the car’s originals. Drum brakes are connected to new master and wheel cylinders, and shoes are race compound. The radiator and wiring have been cleaned, new fuel lines have been installed and suspension was completely rebuilt.
In addition to most removed original parts, a VSCCA and VRG approved roll bar and a full set of Dunlop race tires are included. Stone chip minefield or not, we’d love to be the ones to put it back on track.
