This 1984 Ferrari 400i (VIN ZFFEB07000050807) was formerly part of Greg Garrison’s collection, and was reportedly ordered new under the condition that Pinninfarina “think of special things to add to the car.” As such, it wears a unique rosy hue (described as code 305/C Rosso Metallic, or what the seller calls “Watermelon Red”), in addition to some later 412 spec items like color-matched bumers. Condition looks excellent, lots of documentation, literature and records are included, and best of all it’s a 5-speed manual. Find it here on Ferraris Online in Costa Mesa, California for $89,500. Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission. Rosso Metallic paint displays an even shine across all panels, and similar rosy reds were featured on a handful of Ferraris from this era onward including a TR, 308 and others. Trim and lighting both look good, and color-matched bumpers give a more cohesive look. In addition to the color-matched bumpers, the hood vent was more than doubled in size to allow for additional cooling. Original metric TRX wheels have been retained and are included, but a set of Borrani wires are currently mounted and wear 215-section Michelin XWX rubber. Yards of Buttercream leather lines the interior, and condition is described as excellent, including the seats, door trim panels, center console and even common trouble areas like the dash. The Nardi steering wheel is factory equipment, and wood rim also looks great. Other factory alterations compared with a standard 400i include power-adjustable seats, A/C for the rear passengers and a double insulated headliner. The only thing that’s noted as being changed since new is the head unit which was replaced with a more modern head unit. A good sized collection of original documentation, literature and other paperwork is included. Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection replaced the six Weber DCOE carburetors fitted to the previous 400, but emissions standards had forced power down from 335 HP to 315 for the 4.8 liter Colombo Type 101D quad-cam V12. Total production figures stand at 1,305, 833 which came with a GM-sourced 3-speed auto and the remainder with a 5-speed manual as seen here. The original toolkit is included, but two screwdrivers and a pair of pliers have gone missing. Modifications include deletion of the center mufflers, though they have been retained and are included. Says the seller: “400i s/n 50807 offers an unusual opportunity to own a one-off Ferrari built for a factory-favored client that will get you on the lawn at almost any Ferrari event at a price nicely below $100k.”
