This 1971 Alfa Romeo Spider is powered by a 1,779cc twin-cam four paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and was modified under previous ownership with a color change to red, installation of dual Weber carburetors, and an aftermarket stereo. The car was acquired by its current owner in 2014 and driven from Colorado to Iowa. It has been in covered storage since 2017 and is not currently drivable, reportedly due to a clutch issue and dead battery. This Spider is offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of its current owner with an Iowa title. Finished from the factory in Verde Vivo, the car was repainted in Rosso Farina accented with white striping under previous ownership. Noted imperfections include bubbling in the trailing edge of the right front wheel arch, flaking paint, peeling side marker and taillight finishes, and corrosion below the rear bumper. 14″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and Fuzion tires. Disc brakes are equipped front and rear. The convertible top is shown raised in the gallery below and displays several tears in its fabric and backlight. A tonneau cover said to be in fair condition is included in the sale. The cockpit features mismatched black vinyl seats as well as an older aftermarket AM/FM/cassette stereo. The 5-digit odometer shows 17k miles, with total mileage unknown. Issues include a tear in the driver’s seat upholstery, a crack in the dash pad, and warping of the glovebox lid and door trim. A hole is present in the passenger side footwell according to the previous owner, though the area has not been inspected by the seller. The 1,779cc twin-cam four is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The stock SPICA fuel injection system was replaced with twin Weber DCOE carburetors by a previous owner. The car was last run in fall 2017 and is said to be undrivable due to a clutch alignment issue and a dead battery. The car is now registered in Iowa despite the Wyoming plates seen in older exterior images. Indoor detail photos from December 2018 are provided in the gallery below.
